About Paddy's Paradise

From Abandoned Land to Eco-Paradise

The proposed site for the Eco-Agri Project was an abandoned paddy field, which remained uncultivated and unused for agricultural purposes for over 60 years. During this extended period of disuse, the land underwent significant natural regeneration.

The area became characterized by overgrown vegetation, including native grasses, shrubs, and small wild trees. Partially degraded bunds and irrigation channels from the former paddy system remained, along with moderate soil compaction in certain areas due to silting and the absence of regular tilling.

Seasonal water retention suggested residual suitability for water-sensitive agriculture, while spontaneous biodiversity growth, including local insects, birds, and amphibians, offered potential for ecological enhancement.

The land now presents high potential for eco-restoration and sustainable agricultural redevelopment, aligning perfectly with the core objectives of the Eco-Agri initiative.

Our project transforms an abandoned 60-year-old paddy field into a thriving ecosystem that demonstrates regenerative agriculture, showcases traditional Sri Lankan farming, and provides guests with authentic farm-to-table experiences.

To cultivate a sustainable and eco-friendly environment where people can reconnect with nature, experience the beauty of organic living, and enjoy the harmony of a greener lifestyle through responsible farming, renewable energy, and mindful hospitality.
